FAQs

Questions we get asked

Do I need a permit for a deck or pergola?+

Sometimes. Low decks under 800mm and small unroofed structures often don't, but height, boundary setbacks and roof cover can change that. We check against your council before quoting and handle the paperwork if it's needed.

Merbau or composite, which should I choose?+

Merbau is warmer underfoot and cheaper up front but wants oiling every year or two. Composite costs more initially and never needs oiling. We'll show you both on site so you can see the finish before deciding.

How long does a deck take to build?+

A standard 30 to 40sqm deck is usually three to five days on site once materials land. Add a roofed pergola and you're looking at one to two weeks.

What does a deck cost?+

It depends on size, height off the ground, substructure and board choice. We measure on site and give you one fixed price in writing, no per-metre guess over the phone that moves once we start.

Are you insured?+

Yes, fully insured and registered, with all work built to Australian Standards and backed by a workmanship warranty.
